Residency Period: 2010-07-01 ~ 2012-12-31
The Assignment Theatre Group was founded in 1996. The founder, Chung Chiao, has begun collaborating with numerous people’s theatres in Asia and has several times organized
collective performances or theatrical exchange workshops. While utilizing training methods and theoretical systems Assignment Theatre parts from reality and then taking into account local history and living experience, the Theatre seeks for performance aesthetics
in modern theater. In addition to regularly held community and educational workshops which encourage communities and disadvantaged groups to take part, the Theatre takes part in general exchanges between other Asian people’s theatres as well as artists so
as to adapt to the impact of globalization. Its short-term goal is to expand and deepen its interaction between other people’s theatres all around the world.
The performance of “Move, Listen to Our Heart” is anticipated not only to enrich the symbolic content of Treasure Hill’s culture and actions that resemble people, but also
to form dialogues between people’s hearts. This process allows us to reflect further and once more get to know Treasure Hill’s personality, situated as it is on the peripheral of the city.
Therefore, “Move, listen, to our heart” is not a regularly presented performance, nor that of a single genre, nor is it played by professional actors; instead, “Move, listen,
to our heart” refers to our daily life where public art takes place. A play interpreted from the heart, then by gesture, then by verbal expression, and all by community residents, students who visit Treasure Hill, children and artists, together creating a
lively interaction and exchange.
